As you may know, I’ve been using my platform, particularly this platform, to speak to what is happening in Israel. That was a conscious decision I made immediately following October 7th, 2023.
I’ve been studying Israel, the conflict, and the Middle East in general since about 2009/2010, and have been outspoken since about 2012, but not as much in the music space.
That all changed.
Because of this, JoDavi has made some incredible friendships and connections including many of you who subscribe to this page.
It has also made enemies.
I’ve always been aware of people who unfollow me or choose to not come to my shows because of my views. But as I prepare for this upcoming California tour, I’m experiencing for the first time people actually reaching out for ticket refunds.
Not wanting to support me because we don’t agree on what we both find to be very core issues is one thing. What’s happening now, though is that some of these people choose to pull their support for me because they have so drank the Kool-Aid of propaganda, they can’t really see straight.
A fellow artist accused me of hating Muslims. A former fan told a venue where I’ll be performing in a couple of weeks that I’m “anti-Palestinian.” Over the years, lots of others have attribute racially charged words and phrases to me; things that I won’t repeat.
All I know is that the truth is the truth. Read any of my articles over the past few months on this platform and you will see for yourself. I will not compromise my convictions to sell a few more tickets. There is no hatred in my heart for any group of people, and if one interprets that from my posts, I would encourage them to do some introspection. There are far more important things going on in this world than your personal feelings about what I’m saying.
I want to focus on the positive things rather than the negative in this case. There are many people I am excited to see again on this tour, and many new friendships to be had. It’s going to be an amazing time like always, and even more so this time around.
See you soon~
❤️ thanks for your integrity.
Joshua, I am actually pleased to see this opinion posting. Over time, I have developed a disagreement with Israel leadership decisions, but that has grown to Middle East leadership decisions and violent retaliation overall. I choose to stay apart from it all; it is all so destructive and never has a good ending. However, your music carries such beautiful messages, and frankly, that’s all I care about. You are inclusive and respectful of your music followers, and that’s all that matters. I am capable of separating the two. You are not my only dear friend who doesn’t share the same platform with me. “Love is the answer,” as written and sung by Dan Seals. That we can all be together on 💕
