A Story About A Dear Friend
It’s the brazen arrogance that always gets to me. It’s the arrogance that says “because we agree on this issue, we have to agree on all issues.” It’s the rank immaturity that, when confronted with something one disagrees with, demanding the person change their view, instead of engaging in civil debate, or quite frankly, leaving it alone altogether.
Because I am Black, I am sometimes expected to hold specific views about the police, White people, and America in general. When I express views that don’t line up with what is expected of me, the response has often been to site my skin color, rather than debate my ideas.
But I feel like I’ve talked about that quite a bit. Nothing new. Right now, I want to highlight a story.
