Jason Aldean and Our Collective Cowardice
Why the Outrage Around "Try That In A Small Town" is Stupid and Painful
It's always very interesting to me what influencers and other famous people choose to invest their energy in.
None of these people had anything to say about the countless businesses, and minority owned businesses specifically (since we seem to care so much about Black people) were destroyed permanently during the Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots of 2020, 2021, and 2022. And when they did have something to say, it was along the lines of "whatever. They can get insurance,” or “we’re mad as hell; leave us alone,” or patronizing White people saying “just let them do this. They’re hurting,” as if we’re a bunch of toddler chimpanzees who need coddling.
Despite the wasted time and energy around this particular topic, it actually pains me that it is even taking place. It pains me to hear voices I wish I had heard when they were needed most.
I’ll explain.
