Today marks 6 months.
6 months since 1500 Israelis and foreign nationals were slaughtered, raped, burned, hacked, kidnapped.
130 of them are still missing.
No more ceasefires.
There was a ceasefire between 1948 and 1967. It wasn’t honored the entire time by the Palestine Liberation Organization, and was eventually broken by them and surrounding Arab countries, which is what kicked off the 1967 war. In that time, Jordan also illegally occupied Judea/Samaria, which is west of the Jordan River, which is where we get the name “West Bank” from.
When Israel defeated Egypt, Syria, and Jordan (along with fighters representing other countries), there was a summit held in Khartoum, Sudan. Israeli leaders attended with 8 other Arab leaders, and this is where we get what is infamously called the 3 Noes. This summit is where Arab leaders, after starting a war and losing it, adopted the proclamation: No peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel and no negotiations with Israel.
People on the other side of this issue, if they know this history, like to argue that the document also calls for an end to “the effects of the aggression” and for Arab Palestinians to have their own homeland. Very convenient that the document leaves out who initiated the aggression, and who lost their chance at a homeland because they decided to wage war in 1947 in the first place. Check out the article below for more on that.
Does this sound familiar? Arabs start a war, deal some blows, the Jews respond, and all of a sudden, it’s not a war anymore. It’s “aggression” and “violence” and all of it is coming from one side.
Not much is different here, except there are still 130 hostages trapped in Gaza. If you remember from older posts, I said that one of them is as young as 6 months old. That baby, if he’s still alive, is over a year old now.
So again, no. No more ceasefires. They’ve been tried. They don’t work.
Rather, let’s strive for real peace. And real peace can only come when those who start wars are destroyed.
I continue to pray that every hostage is found, returned, and restored to full and complete health, and that Hamas is utterly obliterated.
If that last sentence rubs you the wrong way, and you ask “well what about the suffering Palestinians?!” You should be wanting the same thing I do. Because where we are right now—bombs, missiles, hostages, war—was all started by, and can all end right now, with the enemies of Israel. If you’re mad at Israel for responding to a war waged on them, you’re askew, and it’s only when the type of terror on October 7th, 2023 is visited upon your home and family that you will understand.
The people of Sudan certainly understand.
No ceasefire. Peace.
It's great to hear from you, and we love reading your thoughts. A breath of sanity in a crazy world. Thanks also for the link to the article about the South Sudanese man who describes his experience as a former slave and compares it to the Oct 7th Hamas attack. It is an incredibly moving article. All love to you.
I was just listening to bassem on lex fridman. I want to love the bassem and I know he calls out everyone but he gives the Arab extrmists a pass. Need to share this kind of stuff with him
