This year, JoDavi has more events than ever before. My growing experience in programming has made it so that I’m not overwhelmed by all of the big concerts, speaking events, and recording sessions going on. A dear friend and I are planning Europe, my brother-in-law and I are speaking about South Africa, and I have something booked in Israel. Things are moving onward and upward.
I think social media has a way of making one's life seem more glamorous than it already is; whether the person intends for it to be that way or not. No one really thinks to post reels on instagram or tiktok of mundane parts of their day. No one would watch or care.
But the reality is, those parts of the day are just as real, perhaps more real than posts about what I’m eating, where I’m going, and how fit I’m looking.
All that to say, I don’t know the percentage, but I would guess that I spend at least 35% of JoDavi time direct messaging, emailing, texting, and calling people in different regions, either inviting them to my concerts, or simply checking in with them to see how they’re doing. I’ve been blessed with people all over the world who want to support the work I do any way they can; whether music performance, music school, or advocacy.
And for those who either can’t make a concert, or I simply haven’t had one in their city yet, they tend to ask “how else can I support you?”
It’s a question that I am the most grateful for. They do not have to ask, let alone actually do it, but they choose to anyway. No one had to come out to my Thursday night show in San Jose, California last month, but they did, and in large numbers. No one had to come out to my house concert in Weddington, North Carolina in January of this year, but they did and made it a sold out show.
So in that same way, you don’t have to support me in any way, but you choose to, and I thank you.
One of the easiest ways you can support me is by becoming a paid subscriber to these newsletters. Some of my premium content includes certain podcast episodes, articles, and sneak peeks at new music in the works. The cost is small, but the impact your subscription makes is a ginormous one, and is not taken for granted.
Your paid subscription is what enables me to do the work I do. It is what helps me not to stress about how much money is in the account when on tour. It actually makes my tours that much longer and higher quality. It is what helps me to put on some of the larger concerts happening this year, both in Stockton, CA and in Charlotte, NC.
And when I’m performing near you, being a paid subscriber is what will have me put you on the guest list so you can enjoy my shows for free. Just reach out and let me know you’re coming, and you will be able to get in at no cost. That’s just a small way that I can say thank you.
Again, fully acknowledging that you do not have to do any of this at all, this is how you can support me; and I would be extremely grateful if you were to do so.
Have a wonderful week~
